Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum Service - Fine Art Collection : check list catalogue

It is the policy of Cheltenham's Borugh Council's Art Gallery and Museum Service to issue check-lists of the collections owned by the Borough. Apart from a partial catalogue of paintings in 1931, no lists of any kind have been published or made available indicating the rich variety and depth of the Cheltenham collections.
The check-lists catalogues are working documents - the publication of each volume will coincide with the re-organisation of the housing of that collection making the items more readily available. Apart from giving, simply but adequately, information on the Cheltenham's holdings we hope the publications will encourage interested persons to "use" our collections - s far as possible further information will be supplied to enquirers quoting the catalogue number.
