BeschrijvingHet boekje (Five gates for the South wind) van Hreinn Fridfinnsson is duidelijk conceptueel: "The idea originated in the Spring of 1971, but the gates were not built until the late summer of 1972. They are situated at a lonely place on the south coast of Iceland. I wanted them to open only for the South wind. The following pictures were taken on the same day that the gates were positioned: a dull and rainy day, and the wind was blowing from the North. I haven 't seen them since".
"Hreinn Fridfinsson is a poet. He "speaks" to us about the light, the wind, the landscape, about the rocks and crystals, about the gravity and about sentiment. In 1972 he created gates for the South Wind at a lonely spot on the southern coast of Iceland. He constructed them in such a manner that the South Wind could open the leaves of the gates. On one rainy day, when he had just finished constructing the gates and was taking a photograph of them, the wind blew from the north; the leaves remained closed and the artist never again returned to that place" (Jean-Christophe Ammann, April 2000).
