DescriptionGrote, eivormige dekselpot van Chinees porselein op lage voetrand; eivormige wand met korte liggende schouder; en kort staande liprand, welke de sluitrand voor het deksel vormt. De wand is door smalle, verticale gleuven in 16 smalle vakken verdeeld. Deksel heeft staande wand, vlak gedekt. Versierd in famille verte email: blauw, groen, geel, aubergine email en ijzerrood met bloemen en vlinders.
Ovoid jar on a footring, with a rounded shoulder, and a domed cover. Divided into 16 vertical panels with thin red lines. Decorated with famille verte enamels. Around the base a border with three wide-spreading flower sprays, on the shoulder a band with eight auspicious symbols. The sixteen panels are filled with flower sprays, butterflies and birds. On the cover three flower sprays, in the centre a taihu (garden) rock with a flowering chrysanthemum.
In the West, such covered pots – preferably paired – were used as interior decorations and were placed on a mantelpiece, cupboard or cabinet.
