DescriptionZeszijdig fles met lange nauwe hals. De voet met 19e-eeuws Europees verguld koperen montuur. Grijsachtig geglazuurd, het onderste deel fijn gecraqueleerd. Versierd in email met een knoestige bloeiende prunustak, een pioen en vliegende vogels. Op de hals staan losse 'karakusa' krulversieringen en klassieke puntige bladeren. Rond de voet een meanderband.
Een soortgelijke stuk is er in de Reitlinger Collection, in het Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, maar dan zonder montuur, waar het geclassificeerd is als ko-Imari, ofwel 'oude' Imari. Echter, het gebruik van bovenglazuur blauwe emails, de compositie en onderwerp van de versiering, maken dat het ook als in vroege Kakiemon stijl zou kunnen worden aangemerkt. Het is typisch een prototype, vooruitlopend op de uiteindelijke Imari en Kakiemon stijlen.
Six-sided bottle with a tall naroow neck. The foot with European 19th century gilt copper mounts. greyish body, the lower part with a finely crackled glaze. Decorated in enamels with a gnarled blossoming prunus branch, a peony and flying birds. On the neck single karakusa scrolls and formal pointed leaves. round the foot a key-fret pattern.
A similar piece from the Reitlinger collection but without mounts is in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, where it is classified as ko-Imari. However, the use of overglaze blue enamels, justify a denomination as early Kakiemon style. It is a typical proto-piece with elements foreshading the mature Imari and Kakiemon style.
